Laser procedures
The laser is a safe, effective, minimal intervention modern tool that helps to increase efficiency, specificity, ease, cost and comfort of dental treatment.
Our paediatric specialists have had additional training and have been certified in the use of soft tissue lasers in dentistry. Lasers are useful alternatives to traditional surgical techniques for hard and soft tissue therapies, and are well accepted by parents and children due to their minimal invasiveness.
Soft tissue laser application includes labial and lingual frenectomies, removal or biopsy of hyperplastic tissue and pathologic lesions, uncovering or exposure of impacted or partially erupted teeth, wound healing, management of gum disease and oral ulceration, and tooth whitening.
For certain dental procedures that may be painful or require surgical incisions, laser dentistry, which utilises light energy to destroy or mould tissues and teeth, may be used as a treatment alternative, providing a quick, safe and effective way to help with breastfeeding difficulties in infants, as well as speech issues in children.
